“Hello, neighbor.”

It’s the greeting Fred Rogers would use on each of his episodes after his opening entry song to his show, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. My wife suggested we go see the movie this last weekend because she knew how much I’ve always liked Mr. Rogers.

I would watch Mr. Rogers in college, even later as an adult. Sure, that means I’m a little dorky. But that’s okay. I watched it because I liked it. He had such a calming presence. No matter how crazy my day, or life, would get I could watch the show and just feel better.

Mr. Rogers would take his time, ask good questions and listen deeply. He would focus intently on the person in front of him. That person was the most important person in the world at that moment.

Deep subjects and issues that make most people uncomfortable he would tackle on a regular basis while talking to an audience of children.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”

We like to let our clients know they are not alone. Thank you, Fred Rogers.
